Machining

At Northern Iron & Machine, our machinists are highly trained experts capable of machining everything we cast.  We are especially skilled at machining larger parts in the difficult 50-to 250 pound range.

Our people work on some of the most precise machining equipment available: four axis, fully programmable CNC machines capable of machining to tolerances of +- .0005 in.  Please check our machine shop facilities list to see our complete line of equipment. 

To ensure the greatest possible precision, we check dimensions on our automated CMM's throughout each shift and thoroughly inspect all parts before they are shipped. These final, detailed quality checks eliminate any out-of-spec pieces, and enable us to consistently ship you high quality parts.

Further finishing options:  Painting and Sub-Assembly

If your part requires further finishing or assembly, we have the people, equipment and expertise necessary to accommodate your needs.  Our painting center can handle up to 300,000 pounds per month. We also offer reliable sub-assembly services.  We can add multiple components to your parts - as many as necessary to prepare them for your production line.  Many long-time customers have discovered these value-added Northern Iron & Machine services to be an economical alternative to performing finishing task in-house.
